Sabella shifts quietly like the sea floor, all sea dusters and anemones – dizzying, microscopic cnidarian life scattered like flowers over the seabed. These organisms are minute but essential to the thriving and infinite life underwater. They are tricksters, too, constantly changing how they look from one moment to the next to give their predators the slip. Sabella gives material expression to this illusionism, shifting when draped and appearing anew when viewed in different lights.
